What sets The Local Shoppe apart from your average barbershop in South Carolina? Pop into our store today and see for yourself! You might expect a room full of burly barbers, but you might be surprised. Until then, check out some of our specialty haircuts below.

Here's why:

Most Barbers Specialize in Men's Haircuts

Most Stylists Specialize in Men's Haircuts

Our barbershop, employs cosmetologists who are actually trained more extensively than stylists. Most guys don't need extensive hair coloring, but they do need an expert. That's why stylist trained as stylists are better - they focus exclusively on cutting men's hair, not pampering them with hand creams and makeup. They spend years studying and mastering hairstyles for men and build their knowledge on classic styles like the undercut and combover. Plus, seasoned stylist aren't afraid to answer your questions or suggest new ways to make you look fresh and clean.

Barbershops Offer Experiences

Barbershops Offer Experiences

If you've ever walked into a salon, you probably know that most of them have similar layouts. If you've seen one, you've seen all of them - cookie-cutter locations that you can find at your local Walmart. The atmosphere is bland and generic. Unfortunately, the haircuts are too. Barbershops like The Local Shoppe give clients a fun, relaxing experience. It's an authentic vibe that usually includes a lounge, refreshments, sports TV, and more. Unlike many salons, here at The Local Shoppe, we want to get to know you. We want to learn about your likes, dislikes, and style. We want to hear the plans you have this weekend. Our stylists aren't afraid to talk about current events or exchange a little small talk - we think that's what makes going to the barbershop great!

Barbershops Have Better Services for Men

Barbershops Have Better Services for Men

One of the biggest reasons why men choose barbershops over hair salons is that most barbershops cater their services to men. At a salon, you can get a haircut and have your hair washed. Outside of that, your options might be limited. At a barbershop, you can get your beard trimmed and shaped, your scalp massaged, and even a hot lather and shave. Few salons offer these services, and if they do, they probably don't perform them often.

The Local Shoppe Men's Haircuts and Lounge: More Than Just a Barbershop

Here at The Local Shoppe, stellar haircuts are only part of the experience. We welcome you to visit our barbershop in Walterboro, SC, so you can see for yourself why men flock to our shop. Maybe it's our staff of highly-trained stylists with years of experience. Perhaps it's our awesome lounge area where you can kick back, relax, and chat with the guys. Maybe it's our extensive list of hairstyles and services, like hot lathers, shaves, and custom cuts. We like to think it's a combo of all the above, mixed with a dash of good times and great people.

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCSC) — A Walterboro manufacturing plant is expanding its operations in Colleton County, bringing millions in new investment and dozens of local jobs, officials announced Thursday.

Trison Wells, a contract manufacturer that makes private-label cleaning products, will invest $3.37 million and create 30 new jobs at its facility at 1756 Industrial Road.

The company plans to install a state-of-the-art liquid-fill production line to significantly boost its annual production capacity for laundry, household, personal, pet, and car care products.

“South Carolina’s business-friendly environment gives companies like Trison Wells the opportunity to succeed and expand,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in a statement. “We are proud to congratulate the company on its expansion in Colleton County, creating 30 new jobs and strengthening South Carolina’s thriving manufacturing industry.”

Trison Wells first established its Walterboro footprint in 2022 with an initial $1.2 million investment and 35 jobs.

“We are very excited and proud of this manufacturing expansion to our Walterboro facility and bringing manufacturing jobs to the region and supporting the U.S. consumer goods market,” Trison Wells General Manager Jonathan Johnson said. “With the local talent and the support of Colleton County through the economic alliance, we will make this project a success.”

Local leaders welcomed the news, noting the impact the additional jobs will have on Colleton County families.

“Trison Wells makes high-quality cleaning products for world-renowned brands right here in Colleton County,” Colleton County Council Chairman Scott Biering said. “Their expansion means more local job opportunities for our workforce and the families it supports.”

Steve Murdaugh, chairman of the Southern Carolina Alliance and a Colleton County councilman, said the expansion reflects the strength of the local workforce and pro-business environment.

“Each of the 30 jobs created in this expansion will create a better opportunity and brighter future for our families here,” Murdaugh said.

According to officials, the expanded operations are already online.

Those interested in applying for the new positions can visit the Walterboro facility in person or call 843-539-1122 for more information.

William Risher Jr., born September 5, 1944, in Yemassee, South Carolina, was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William Risher Sr. and Sallie Grant Risher.

In Junior Highschool, William found his forever sweetheart Shirley Ann Jamision. After a 3-year courtship he married Shirley in 1962, and they shared 64 years of marriage which was filled with love, faith, laughter, and cherished memories. From this holy union, they were blessed with five children: Tammy L. Risher, William E. Risher III, Carolyn Risher Green, Kimblie (Dean) Risher Cuthbertson, and Connie Risher Jones.

William also leaves to cherish his memory Beverly White, his daughter, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

William was a dedicated construction worker who took great pride in his work. Through the years, his hands helped build and shape some of South Carolina’s most prominent infrastructure, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to stand for generations. He was a hardworking man who knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. When August came around, you could find William in the woods doing what he loved most, deer hunting.

When winter arrived, he was ready to cheer for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and enjoy one of his favorite treats, ice cream, with his children. Of course, he had a way of making sure they paid for it themselves! That playful tradition continued with his grandchildren, as he shared popsicles and created memories they will never forget.

William will be remembered for his strength, hard work, sense of humor, love of family, and spirit of fun and fellowship. His greatest legacy was what he built within his family. He gave his children memories, lessons, laughter, and a love that will continue from one generation to the next.
