Every man in Charleston must experience “the pampering that causes manpurring” by getting his hair cut and styled at either the James Island or new West Ashley locations. Owner Kelsey Robbins has become more than a trendsetter and is burgeoning as a national thought leader regarding the man’s haircare experience. Scheduling an appointment with The Local Shoppe online is always a breeze. As someone who is hilariously uncool, I somehow transform into feeling like Keanu “Freaking” Reeves before, during, and after my 30-minute haircut at The Local Shoppe. The vibe feels like being a member of an exclusive men’s club with great music, lounge seating, an open bar, and Sports Center on the big screen. The gorgeous all-female stylists are an empowered ensemble of professional craftspeople who ply their skills with precision, care, and alacrity assuring that you will look much better going out than you did coming in. I came to the shoppe in desperate need of repair. I got a haircut the day before and the guy totally messed up my hair. Kelsey, was my saving grace. I asked for her to clean it up, and she went the extra mile, giving me probably the best cut of my life. She did me right, and I will continue to go back to her from now on. Thank you Kelsey!! Also… I’m from Massachusetts, and no barber shop up north serves drinks (at least to my knowledge) so when I got checked in and they said “help yourself” I sure did! The Shoppe was amazing, Kelsey is a legend, I 100% trust and recommend them to anyone!

I’ve been getting my haircut at The Local Shoppe on James island for the last four years. I tried their new location today in West Ashley and it was fantastic. It’s hard to get a consistent haircut when going to different locations and The Local Shoppe has nailed it. I’m glad they have two locations now and will continue to go to them for my haircuts and beard trims!
